A check reviews a word already added
Alicia’s described family mode has a cooperative target of ten links. Checking a join after an adult’s correct answer reviews that join; it does not add a new word. When preparing to play, separate two questions: which word was added and whether its first syllable matches the preceding word’s last syllable.
The Alicia facts page documents different cards for Child and Adult, and the check Child makes after Adult answers correctly. Alicia is still in development for Android. This guide explains published rules, not a tested session or an available download.
Ten words, nine joins to check
This invented example explains counting; it is not a guaranteed set of cards in the app. Keep the Spanish words: translating them changes the syllables and breaks the chain.
- casa — ca-sa.
- sapo — sa-po: joins on sa.
- pozo — po-zo: joins on po.
- zona — zo-na: joins on zo.
- nave — na-ve: joins on na.
- vela — ve-la: joins on ve.
- lata — la-ta: joins on la.
- taza — ta-za: joins on ta.
- zapato — za-pa-to: joins on za.
- tomate — to-ma-te: joins on to.
There are ten words and nine joins between consecutive words. Reading a join again does not turn ten words into eleven. Nor does this example establish how the interface counts an opening word: it simply separates adding from reviewing.
Prepare a check without answering for the child
When it is time to review an adult’s answer, return to the two relevant words. For lata → taza, you might ask, “Which part of lata starts taza?” The join is ta. Pointing it out explains the rule; asking the question does not require another word after taza.
If the join is unclear, revisit those two words before continuing. The facts page describes a game without lives, scores or timers. This guide adds none of those counters. Words remain visible and audio is optional. An adult can support reading without presenting this example as a promised educational outcome.
Do not import another game’s ending
RatoLibre publishes a computer-opponent version with its own conditions. The Castilla y León education resource describes linking syllables. These references, checked on 26 October 2026, do not change Alicia’s published cooperative target.
Before preparing another example, choose what needs clarification: a matching word, a check or the chain’s end. For Child’s role after Adult answers, see the join-check guide. Visit Alicia for its actual status. There is no public download yet.
