Casa → hogar is not a valid link just because the words have related meanings. Alicia joins the last syllable of one Spanish word to the first syllable of the next: ca-sa calls for sa. If saco were one of the actual options, sa-co would make that link. Check the displayed word rather than whether its picture is related.
A meaningful association can still break the rule
Casa and hogar refer to related ideas, but ho-gar does not start with sa. A sack does not need to belong to the same category as a house to continue the chain. Syllable matching is the game’s criterion.
Here is an original explanatory chain: ca-sa → sa-co → co-la → la-go. Every arrow joins the ending syllable to the next starting syllable. This explains the rule; it does not promise that these four words appear among a session’s cards.
What to inspect on your turn
- Read the current word and identify its last syllable: sa in casa.
- Check the start of each option actually offered on your turn. Do not add an imaginary card to the available set.
- Check the entire link: ca-sa / sa-co. Two pictures fitting into a story does not replace that check.
- After Alicia replies in Rally, continue from the word she added. Do not return to casa just because it started your example.
Family mode offers a cooperative chain of ten links. Peque chooses among three picture-and-syllable cards; Adulto among six text cards. After the adult succeeds, Peque checks the link. Ask which syllable the words share rather than answering on the child’s behalf.
Coming from an association game?
Some games connect ideas by meaning. Explain the rule you are using here before starting. You need not correct a child’s entire invented story; return to the particular syllable link being checked. Words remain visible, and audio is optional.
Keep the Spanish words in a bilingual family’s explanation. Translating casa to house or saco to sack breaks the syllable links. An English explanation does not change the game’s language.
